Review: Dailts Dynasty and She

Author: Sanjay Chitranshi
Publisher: Frog Books
Pages: 269
MRP: 295 (Paperback), 206 (eBook Kindle)

Reading Sanjay is always a treat for eyes and mind. “Dalits, Dynasty and She” is his second Novel I read in last 30 days and I enjoyed reading both.
The book, claimed to be a Satire on Indian Politics, actually is like a Live commentary on Indian Politics and Politicians, as seen by Rama Chandra, a Dalit. It highlights the situation of Dalits who even after 60 years of Independence and hundreds of Welfare Schemes are still living in a Society which does not accept them. It reflects their desire to integrate with the society even at cost of hiding their identity and not taking benefits available to them.
A completely different insight is given where Rama Chandra does not opt for more lucrative degree and then government job, both available to him easily,  just to hide his identity.
Then it takes us through the aspirations which rise post a Dalit Leader occupying the highest chair in State but then how all dreams are broken when she too becomes part of this system.
Author tries to cover all the ills affecting our system like Land Grabbing.
A good read and a good political commentary.
Few things could have been better like the names of characters seem from the real society but names of parties don’t sound Indian.
Author somewhere is stuck in describing reality without getting in trouble. If the story was described as a political narrative with real names or a complete fiction novel, it would have been better. Any person following Indian politics can easily relate to real persons/parties mentioned in the novel. I am sure with more writings Sanjay will shed his fears of antagonizing others and will be more direct in his narrative.

Overall a good narrative of Indian Society and Politics. A great Second Novel Sanjay ji. You deserve kudos for it. If marketed properly it can surely become a best seller.

Sanjay Chitanshi is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee. Dalits, "Dynasty and She" is his second Novel after "Poetic Penetations".

Review: Twists of Fate

 Book: Twists of Fate
Pages: 264
MRP: 150
Publisher: Mahaveer Publisher

First I want to confess: I read a beautifully written, error free Novel from an Indian Author after a long time. So congratulations Priyanka Naik for it.
“Twists of Fate” is a novel that revolves around the story of three friends; soulmates-they prefer to be called Sharvari Joshi, Parizaad Sethna and Nandini Mazumdar. They have distinct individual personalities different from each other, have different views of life, belong to different income group families but yet their friendship bond holds them together.
Story tells us about the turns and twists of life as they grow. How they evolve from teenagers to adults and how their friendship helps them move through difficulties of life even after being separated for more than ten years.
Priyanaka has been able to do justice to all three characters. She has covered their lives with minute details and nowhere has it seemed that one character is lost to other.
Story moves smoothly, characters develop beautifully and time moves at its pace.
Writer has done a thorough research about her characters like for Parizaad Sethan, a Parsi, one feels Priyanka has lived with a Parsi family as she knows the minutest of details, like their festivals, celebrations on birth or for that matter rituals in case of death, their favorite foods etc. Same holds true for Joshi’s and Mazumdar’s.
Even when her characters move to different cafés, she justifies the name of café with the Menu.
Congratulations Priyanka for the efforts and 1 extra Star for getting all details correct.
Two things emerge sharply after reading the novel:
  1. Priyanka is a great cook and I will love to taste her food one day.
  2. She is a very good doctor but here I will not like to test her.

Overall a good read and a must read for any author planning to write a Good Novel.

Review :Poetic Penetrations

I am travelling for almost 3 weeks now, so unable to post any reviews or any other post. This review is being written in the time I got today. Will check it again once I am back in Goa.

Book Name: Poetic Penetrations
Author :Sanjay Chitranshi
Publisher: Frog Books
Pages: 85
MRP: Rs.95

Sanjay Chitranshi has tried to visit the side of life which normally we don’t see and the ones who see can’t narrate and bring to us.

The story is narrated in First person by the Protagonist. Born in a family with newly acquired financial status, he has a comfortable life but deep inside he wanted to live life on his own terms. A life where he is not competing with others, where every individual has own space to grow and where there is no mad rush to defeat others.
He leaves his well settled life and goes and settles into an unknown territory of Kolkatta where he tries to fructify his dream of writing. He is an artistic mind person who enjoys company of Wine and Girls and loves to experiment with both. Here he meets “Debolina”, a upscale prostitute who understands the world more than the so called intellectuals.

Sanjay has been able to develop each character nicely and story moves smoothly.
I as a person really enjoyed it because I love to read anything which tries to unearth the hidden meaning of life but as a reader too, one will enjoy the book. It requires a complete involvement while reading to actually understand the mature writing of Sanjay.

Few mistakes like the protagonist’s age (40 when the story starts and 41 after 5 years when he celebrates his birthday with “Debolina”) , I overlooked just because I read an error free (mostly) book from an Indian author after a long time.

Congratulations Sanjay Chitranshi for a great effort to jump deep into unknown territories of life.

Review: Dream Castle

Book: Dream Castle
Genre: Short Stories
Editor: Akash Rumade and Kavya Shah
Stories:20
Publisher: Ridzee
Pages: 168

“Dream Castle” is a collection of 20 Short Stories by 20 Authors. Edited by Mr. Akash Rumade and Ms. Kavya Shah, book revolves around the Concept of “Dreams”!
All the stories are finely woven around a Dream of the Writer and tries to convey a message. Here are few Stories:

The Guardian Angel: Ruchi Rai

A touching story, beautifully written. Dil was asking for More while reading the story. Perfect editing, perfect grammar and perfect plot. Ruchi has a nice way to narrate the story. It raised my expectations from the book. So I moved to next story.

The Knack of Present: Kavya Shah

With every word my expectations were rising from the book and I was sure the book is going to be a gem. Kavya tells the story in a nice way and narrates the human behavior as an expert. The flow is smooth and keeps you in the story.
But as one reaches the last part of story, the usual editing errors starts. But still the story keeps you interested.
Breeze of Love : Priyanka Raiyani Bose
It is a beautiful depiction of Love.
The New Beginning: Rohit Sukhwani
I am waiting for December 6, 2016 04:15 pm and if possible will be at Taj Mumbai at 4:00 pm to take advantage of 15 minutes.

Overall it is a nice collection. But Editing could have been much better. Few stories I read without errors, I think were because of Authors. There are  many grammatical errors which could have been corrected with concentrated editing.

Review: Mirage

Book: Mirage
Publisher: Petals Publishers
Pages: 175
Paperback

“Mirage” is a beautifully conceptualized book. The plot revolves around “Rajeev” who loves his wife “Shreya” so much that he is unable to cope with her sudden loss in an accident. He too wants to kill self so that he can meet her in other world. But then he starts feeling her around him and interacts with him. The writer tries to cover most of aspects of life like True love, continuity of life, relationships, friendship etc.
Writer Mayank Sharma has been able to put his thoughts effectively in the Novel. The storyline is beautifully drawn. The twists and turns are handled efficiently. The flow is smooth. Characters are effectively drawn. Use of poetry in between to highlight emotional state is creative. Language is simple and touching.
There are few things the writer should have taken care, which would have helped the book a lot and taken it to a different level.
  1. The use of word “Moment” is so often that it starts irritating after sometime and so could have been avoided.
  2. He should have taken care of use of words. At many places “her” is used for Rajeev and “his” for Shreya and so on.
  3. Grammar should have been much better. The fault lies here with editor.
  4. Mayank is too philosophical at most of places, so the story looks like dragging there. He is somewhere lost between Philosopher and Writer.
  5. Editing could have been tight and a few 1000 less words would have helped the story immensely.

Overall a good effort; could have been great with a little more focus.

About The Author:

Mayank Sharma was born in a small village in Rajasthan and started writing at age of 19. His first Novel was "A Cocktail of Love". Mirage is his second Novel.
